The J-iView is an online system used for the management, storage and delivery of geographically referenced information. It is specifically designed as an spatial content management system of the Geological Survey of Japan, AIST, with the main objective of developing a working WEBGIS. The system uses Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) including Linux, Apache, Mapserver and PostGreSQL(PostGIS) and the programming/scripting languages like PHP, Java, JavaScript and AJAX. It also uses the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant Web Mapping Service (WMS) and handles GML, XML, KML and JSON data formats. The visualization module of J-iView has different flavors depending on the source of the base map used. Base maps sources included Google Earth (Google), Blue Marble (NASA) and Bing Maps (Microsoft). This version of J-iView is just the visualization component for the online viewing of the Seamless Geological Maps of Japan. Map controls are mostly implemented using the Bing Maps and Google Earth AJAX SDK. The full version of J-iView maybe made available to the public after getting administrative approval from GSJ, AIST. J-iView is developed by Dr. Joel Bandibas of the Geoinformation Center, Geological Survey of Japan, AIST. J-iViewはオンライン上で運用されているGISデータの管理・蓄積・配布用のシステムです．これは，産業技術総合研究所地質調査総合センターの空間データ管理システムとして設計されました．このシステムはPHP, PostGreSQL(PostGIS), Java, JavaScriptやAJAX等の技術を利用しています．国際標準であるOGCに準拠したWMSを利用しており，GML, XML, KML，JSON形式のデータを扱えます．J-iViewの表示画面では，背景図を切り替えることができます．背景図には，Google Earth (Google), Blue Marble (NASA)，Bing Maps (Microsoft)等が利用できます． ここで公開しているJ-iViewでは日本シームレス地質図の表示を行っています．より多機能なJ-iViewをのちほど公開する計画です． J-iViewは，産業技術総合研究所地質調査情報センターのJoel C. Bandibas博士が開発しました．
